My Backpack (Busy Bag)
I carry my backpack with me most of the time. I actually call it my busy bag because I keep items in my bag that will keep me busy while I'm on the bus, at the library or having coffee at my favorite restaurant, G and A Restaurant in Highlandtown, close to downtown Baltimore. My busy bag is also full of items I use as coping skills when my anxiety strikes or I'm a little depressed. Below is a list of ideas you can keep in your bag to keep you busy or help with anxiety.
1. Notebook/Pens - Always great for journaling, writing blogs or creating a to-do-list.
2. Tablet/cell phone - Another great tool for writing or reading.
3. Book - I typically just keep one book in my busy bag so I can concentrate on one book at a time.
4. Headphones - Listening to my favorite playlist that helps with my anxiety; the right songs can be so relaxing.
5. Colored pencils - I'm terrible at drawings, but doodling is a great way to ease anxiety.
6. Small toys - Rubiks Cube, stress ball, spinner or even a smooth rock can be soothing.
